About the project

A compact hybrid, ready to build.

Hillston Solar Farm + BESS pairs a 4.998 MW / 7.2 MWp solar farm with a 5 MW / 10⁠–⁠20 MWh battery on one site near Hillston, giving 2 to 4 hours of storage.

Development approval is in place and the grid connection agreement has been executed, so the project is now progressing towards construction.

How it works

Sunshine you can use after sunset

Solar farms produce the most in the middle of the day, when demand is lowest. A battery beside the panels moves that energy into the evening, when homes and businesses need it most.

  1. Step 1

    Generate by day

    The solar farm’s 7.2 MWp of panels turn Riverina sunshine into electricity for the grid.

  2. Step 2

    Store the surplus

    Around midday, when solar output is high, the 5 MW battery on the same site charges instead of letting that energy go unused.

  3. Step 3

    Supply after dark

    In the evening peak and after sunset it returns that energy to the grid: 10⁠–⁠20 MWh, or 2 to 4 hours at full power.
